Mechanical Energy Calculator
The Mechanical Energy Calculator estimates the total mechanical energy of an object from the kinetic and potential energy values supported by the tool. It is commonly used in introductory physics problems.
How to use this calculator
Enter the relevant mass, speed, height, and gravitational values requested by the calculator. Keep the units consistent so the energy components can be combined correctly.
Formula
E = KE + PE, with KE = 1/2 mv² and gravitational PE = mgh.
Quick check
If the object is stationary at ground level in the chosen reference frame, both kinetic and gravitational potential energy may be zero. For a moving object, increasing speed increases kinetic energy by the square of the speed.
