Percent Error Calculator
Calculate the percentage difference between an experimental value and an accepted or reference value. It is useful for study, lab preparation, engineering notes, or checking a calculation where consistent units matter.
How to use this calculator
Enter the original and comparison values requested by the tool. Decide first whether you need a percentage of a number, a percentage change, or the value represented by a percentage; these are different calculations.
Formula
Percent error = |experimental β accepted| Γ· |accepted| Γ 100%.
Quick check
Do not round the input too early. Keeping a few extra decimal places can make the final result more accurate. For technical or academic work, write down the units alongside the numbers. A mathematically correct calculation can still be misleading if the units are wrong.
